Petition Started To Save The Ritman Library


Many occult, esoteric and book aficionados are familiar with the Ritman Library.
Also known under the name of Bibliotheca Philosophica Hermetica, it was established in 1984 when a Dutch businessman Joost R. Ritman decided to make his collection of books public. His work in the area of books and culture was acknowledged with several awards. He was knighted in the Order of the Dutch Lion in 2002.



Today, this library is under threat. It is owned by the state of Netherlands and the Friesland Bank. Both parties are thinking of selling the library.
In reaction to this, the Center for History of Hermetic Philosophy and related currents at the University of Amsterdam started a petition to save the Ritman Library.
